Trademark Show-Cause Hearing - An Overview

The hearing before the Registrar of Trademarks in connection with the Registrar’s objections raised in the examination report and the applicant’s reply on Trademark Application is known as a Trademark Show Cause Hearing or TLA Hearing of Trademark.

Trademark hearing process

Once the trademark show-cause hearing date is issued, the applicant shouldn’t leave the trademark hearing neglected. It may result in the Trademark Application getting denied without review of the merits of the Trademark Application. In most cases, an applicant is allowed for three Trademark hearings to defend their Trademark application. In India, there are only five cities where the trademark hearing process takes place, namely Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad, which depends on the address mentioned by the applicant in the Trademark application filed.

Documents required for Trademark hearing
